It took us 45 minutes by Ceres bus to get there. And after a while of endless talk we arrived at the “ampao” capital of the Philippines — Carcar City.
As expected, we came in first. Matet, Ivan. Mhedz, Ayen, Ruben, Sheila & Arland (a.k.a. Arlshei), Tyra and Poklat (a.k.a. Giancarlo Reserva) was met warmly by Melna. To our surprise Jebei came minutes ahead of us.
“Ambi nako kuya dili ko kaari”, Jebei blurted. He was from an academic project in Perrelos – a nearby barangay. Shortly after, Rael came with a half gallon of Ice Cream. Little did we know that that day was also Melna’s Tita’s birthday. How lucky we were.
The preparation took us barely five minutes. Banner is up courtesy of Poklat.
Emcee? Tyra (check).
Registration? Matet and Ayen (check).
“Improvised Program?” Ivan (check).
And, KADIWA District President Ruben Licera’s mental checking continued.
Fifteen minutes past Two PM, we were glad that two brethren from Sangat came — Jan and Alfred. Then the guys from Naga, Langtad, Argao, Sibonga. And unexpectedly the “kapilya” was filled.
Armil arrived in his “kagalang-galang” mode. Minutes after “Master” Al and “Muse” Chuckie entered the gates. The cast for this occassion is complete.
Good thing that Melna and Rael created a back-up plan while waiting for everyone. Tyra came in on board as Masters of the Ceremony. To create an interactive mode, indoor games were played, and Ivan added spice to the occasion.
Tyra and “Kuya” Ivan’s tandem was a blast. If LINGAW was to be spelled-out, that occassion would definitely fit the experience. Laughter and fun graced the time while brethren actively participated.
The event started at around 2:39… and the rest they say is HISTORY.
We’re definitely sure that we inspired them to create an activity for the district through the leadership of KA MHEDZ as its Area Coordinator. Ka Rael asserted the importance of inter-locale and inter-area coordination in making things happen. Ka Ruben, in his words, promised that the leadership of the District will back-up any projects the area may conduct in the future.
The event ended at 5:24 PM … but the fun is still in the air for the district leaders.
Picture taking from new found friends was a scene to be seen. Locale brethrens taking time to meet new people, making new acquiantances. Smiles. Hand shakes. It was the beginning of something BIG for the area.
The momentum was started perfectly by bringing in activities that inspires participation, started the gathering with inspired emotions so high and sustained until the last minute of the occasion.

“Nilapwaang Hiog nga Saging” with “Yellow Corn” was a sure feast after the event (thanks to again to Melna). Cookies, Sandwiches and drinks were also served.
After the short while we thanked Tatay Mars Meneses for the warm hospitality and started walking again to poblacion to discover and taste one of Carcar City’s pride — Lechon.
The 27-minute walk was incomparable to the experience it brought. It was an occasion to hear the love story of Armil Velos, the undying crack jokes of Poklat, unfinished talks of “Ate and Kuya”, Boy Abunda’s (Ivan) straight talk and “Counselors” Armil, Ayen and Al Sinocruz’ wisdom. Little did I know that Heart Evangelista (a.k.a. Tyra Nille Pille as acknowledged by the Area 3 brethren earlier that day) has also a story to share.
It was dusk, but still we feasted on good and inspiring stories (which we will share to you next meeting… ooppppsss! he he he) with three one-little bottles of 7-Up Soda, 2 one-litter bottles of PEPSI Cola, 20 pieces of Ngohiong, one kilo of Lechon, 15 pieces of Sibonga siomai and tons of hanging rice (puso). Sumala pa, kung dili undangan ug palit ug puso, dili sad muundang si Poklat ug kaon.

There are a lot of things that Ka Ruben ought to say, but can’t say it enough. Words are too empty to say words of GRATITUDE to the present young-leaders heading the KADIWA-BINHI-CBI District Leadership. With their pure intentions to reach and help-out, every event the district leadership so far ends with an inspiring note. And we intend to keep it that way, with HIS help.
To God be the Glory. Amen!
P.S. As Ivan texted, “Next Stop PARDO!” Let’s rock Area 2.
